Mexican Zucchini Skillet

I made this low carb meal today.  It was YUMMY!!!!!

1 pound 93% fat free ground turkey, browned
1/2 small onion diced
1/2 envelope low sodium Taco seasoning
2 cups water
1/2 can rotel tomatoes
3-4 small zucchini diced
3-4 small yellow squash diced
salt and pepper to taste.

combine in a skillet bring to a boil and simmer for 30 minutes.  stir frequently and add water as needed, this is very low in fat and burned easily. I cooked it until tender and all of the water has evaporated.

makes 4 servings, 4 smart points each serving.

Weight Watchers Garden Veggie Soup - "Free points"

This is not your momma's WW cabbage soup.

1 small onion chopped
2 small carrots chopped
saute with Pam Olive Oil spray
1 large chicken stock
1 cauliflower chopped
1 broccoli chopped
3 yellow squash diced
3 zucchini diced
1/2 bag of cabbage slaw mix
1 can rotel (I accidentally got chili rotel - it was quite yummy)
I did not put salt or pepper due to the chili seasoning in the rotel tomatos
1/2 can tomato paste
green beans

Bring to a boil and simmer for an hour or so until tender.

This is no points on weight watchers.

Roasted Brussell Sprouts

Great way to make brussell sprouts.....cut in half, spread out on cookie sheet, spray with Pam Olive Oil, kosher salt, a dash of balsamic vinegar, and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes.

Bake 400 degrees for 20 minutes or so.....larger sprouts may take a bit longer.

I joined Weight Watchers today

Well, today is the day that I have been planning for a few weeks now.  I wanted to get through Christmas, but get started before New years.  This has been a long time coming and I hope and pray that THIS will be the time that I can lose weight and keep it off.

I need to be able to walk down the stairs to a delivery and not be short of breath.  I need to be able to chase 3 little grandsons without getting so exhausted.  I want to beat diabetes and hypertension before I get them.  I have been lucky so far, but I know that time will only tell before I get the diagnosis of these things that are very common in obesity.

I follow Stasia on Instagram and Facebook.  She is a hilarious lady who had a lot of weight to lose.  She is still on her journey, but it is cool to see her go through ups and downs because she is a real person.  She posted this picture 29 weeks ago...............I loved it.......it stuck with me.
Do I wish I had started 29 weeks ago.....maybe.  Is there anything I can do about it??  no.  So............I started today.  We shall see where this journey takes me.

Sarah, Noah, Hunter and Dallas' Guardian Angels were working overtime on Christmas Day

Sarah and the boys were leaving our house heading to Oakland on Ellis Road at Brunswick, when she stopped at what she thought was a 4 way stop............it was a 2 way stop....Brunswick did not have to stop, so she got hit by a car on Hunter's side.  We went down there to check on them and wait for the police, Hunter's door was jammed, but Dwayne got it opened.  Thankfully it was a little car that hit low on the door, had it been a truck that had hit just a foot higher on the door, it could have been really bad....especially for Hunter.  I know their guardian angels were watching out for them today.  The boys were not too shaken up by it, although Sarah was for sure.  They had a new movie in the DVD player and were watching TV till the police came.  one guy took the wreck information and wrote Sarah a ticket and the other one was talking to the boys and wrote them each a warning ticket too.

It really brings it all back to reality.  Material possessions and money are just stuff.  What is important is our family.

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and enjoy spending time with your loved ones.

Christmas Day 2015

Annabeth got up before everyone else and opened her stocking.  She was always our early riser on Christmas morning.  She loves getting a stocking.

I hope Santa was napping by now, because I remember he says "You better not pout, you better not cry".  At least Dallas and Sarah are happy.

The Christmas Story at Mawmaw Conlee's

On Christmas Eve, we always have dinner at Mawmaw Conlee's house.  We went over there after our Candlelight Service at Lakeland FBC and had a yummy dinner, but before opening presents, we had a little sing a long.  It was fun.  The kids loved it.  We sang everything from Jingle Bells, Mr. Grinch to Away in a Manger and everything in between.  Mrs. Conlee was even singing.

Then before we opened presents, we sat the kids down and explained the true meaning of Christmas.  The story of Jesus birth and why we are celebrating is for his birthday.

Sarah then recited the Christmas story from Luke.  I guess that Christian education from Macon Road Baptist School and growing up at Range Hills Baptist Church finally paid off.  It made me proud of the momma she is becoming.

Christmas Eve 2015

Our little Trammel side of the family is very, very small now that Momma, Granny and Pawpaw Pinky have gone on to be with the Lord, but we still get together for our annual Trammel Christmas breakfast.  What started out as Granny opening up some cans of Pillsbury cinnamon rolls evolved into a full breakfast.  Most of all what we love is spending time together.  Even the original Christmas Grinch, Porgy comes every year.  He gripes alot about Christmas, but I don't think he would miss it for the world.

Here are a few pictures from this morning.

Uncle Porgy...........you do love kids....I just know you do!
The boys were learning a valuable lesson in Gratefulness this year.  At Christmastime everyone gets caught up in the excitement of opening gifts and all, and it is an important time to teach our kids to be thankful for what they have and say thank you even if it was not exactly what they wanted, or the color they wanted, or clothes - heaven forbid - Noah was very grateful, Hunter might have gone to bed early :o(   Lesson Learned.

"visions of sugarplums danced in his head"

Lactose free milk and gluten free cookies.....it's the 2015 Santa diet.

I got up to check on the baby and look who I found snooping around in the house.......I crept back to bed, right after I put a pic on SnapChat.

Missing you Momma

Home for Christmas

We went to the 21st annual Inman's Home for Christmas.  It is an annual tradition that Dwayne and I enjoy together.

One of the songs that was sung was "What a Friend We Have in Jesus"....I was touched by the lyric "oh what needless pain we bear, all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer".  Wow!!!  How much NEEDLESS PAIN have I put myself through, just because I did not lean on Him???

These are a few of the songs that I really enjoyed:
