Winter wonderland

We got a little bit of snow today.  What was amazing is we were off work and no where to go.   Beautiful to look at.  So clean and white.

Weekend Getaway - Just us

Back in the fall, we had to reschedule our Jamaican vacation that was supposed to be just me and Dwayne due to COVID restrictions.  We were looking at our calendar and between the holidays, Servants Heart concerts, Dwayne playing in the praise band at church and my work schedule, the first weekend we both had off was January 14th, 2022.  Well, Dwayne booked us a weekend stay at the Bonne Terre Inn Bed and Breakfast...............ALL  BY  HIMSELF.  Even in his calendar on his phone he had put "Kay Time". awwwwww!

He said he wanted it to be close by in case it snowed......which it did!

I am usually the one who plans our vacations and getaways, so what makes this one all the more special.

It was rainy and yucky and then freezing rain and sleet, so we really just relaxed and ate and napped and read.  It was wonderful.  I sure do love this man of mine.

this is their wedding chapel

we stayed in the big house.  The cafe was closed, I guess since it is out of season.

we were in the Sunflower room

I loved the painting on the wall....it is probably dated looking, but I loved the french country feel of it, but I am not a decorator, so what do I know.

Our room had a sitting area....again, I am not a decorator, but the red did not match the blues and yellows and white, but at least we could sit in our room instead of the main living room if we wanted to.

they even had Ole Miss coasters.  I am sure that is what sold Dwayne

the only thing that seemed really out of place was this coffee area in the main living room.  I guess since the cafe is closed they had this out, they also had a little fridge and microwave next to the table for all of the guests to use.  This table was just a mess though, it could have been done so much better, but oh well.  Just putting the picture here as a memory.
Gimme some sugar!!!

Sugar Bowl - Ole Miss vs. Baylor - January 1, 2022

So, Ole Miss made it to a Bowl and since we had a long weekend, we decided to get tickets to go to the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans.  Unfortunately, I coughed the entire way down there and was quite miserable.  We checked into the hotel and I was fairly certain I must have Covid, but with it being a holiday weekend, there was no place to get tested and no home tests to be found from the searching I did online.  We had a suite since I work night shift and get my nights and days mixed up alot.  Gratefully, Dwayne just hung out on the sofa sleeper and watched football bowl games with the sound turned off and I stayed in bed all weekend.  He brought food in to me but I was really short of breath and did not feel like eating much.  We did venture out to see Lake Ponchatrain so I could at least say I did something and the 12 hour round trip in the car was not for nothing.  Dwayne ended up going to the game by himself and I stayed in the hotel.  Once I got home I took a home covid test and it was negative.  I went to get a Covid PCR test at work the following day and it was negative too, so it was just regular ole winter upper respiratory infection.

in true NOLA style, Dwayne had jambalaya at the stadium

I hated we had to waste the ticket, but I would not have been much fun, plus you can't cough in public these days.

the few minutes at the Lake.........this picture is beautiful, but deceiving.  The water was really brown.
