Hot Springs September 2016

We were looking for a nice inexpensive place to stay for a couple of nights in Hot Springs.  I found this little gem and it had 4.5 out of 5 stars on every site that we looked at.  It was an old travel lodge that was bought and renovated like a bed and breakfast.  Each room is different.  The only thing is there is no Breakfast.....well a little continental breakfast of muffins, granola bars and juice, but well worth the money.  We stayed in the Fleur de Lis cottage and this is it right here.  Lovely little place.

These are more of the rooms, that look more like an older motel, but all of the rooms are renovated.

They have a nice outdoor garden.

a pool

a nice porch out by the pool that we sat at night.

It had a little kitchenette area.

They even had a REAL KEY!!!!

This little fern to the right reminded me of my Mawmaw Thorne's fern that won at the Mid-south fair.

A little front porch sitting on a breezy September night.  It was 70 degrees and lovely.

Tearing down one of the old hotels down town.

The arlington

The Quapaw Bath House.  The owners of the inn are members here, so they gave us gift certificates for use of the four thermal pools.  It was really like 4 big pools with varying temperatures of hot water.  The pools had ledges all around and you just soak in the pools.  It was very relaxing.  They had other spa services, but we could not make an appointment on such short notice.  So we just soaked.

I guess Bill Clinton was in the marching band.

Bill must have been born in Hope, AR and grew up in Hot Springs, AR.

People were getting jug after jug of that mineral water.

Fort Worth Stockyards

The daily cattle drive

This little guys was a skiinny little thing.

The roads are all cobble stone

Could not help but think of the little grand sons.  These tiny little boots were so cute.

Our Tour of AT&T Cowboys Stadium

Statue of Tom Landry out front

Even the seats had a star on them.

The tour guide said this is where you get expensive hydration

free hydration

and de-hydration...........ha!!!

Dwayne and Kevin looking down from Jerry's personal viewing box.  It is kind of small, but all that is in there is Jerry, his two sons, and a couple of Asst. Coaches or managers.  There is a red bat phone that he can call up to the box upstairs or down onto the field to the coaching staff there.

There are 4 TVs in Jerry's private booth to keep up with all 4 games in the NFC East Conference.

These were leather seats on the 50 yard line

This was a neat football lighting fixture in the ceiling

They said Jerry had this marble imported in because it was grey and blue

The banners from the Cowboys Super Bowl wins

The Texas Rangers ball field

This is on the of the tiers of the 20,000 Standing Room Only tickets.

Notice the difference in the distance between the hash marks from an NFL game and a college game.  They were washing the paint off of the college turf and getting ready for the next game.  The Cowboys field has their logos, etc. sewn into the turf.

This was the Cotton Bowl Office

Cotton Bowl Trophy

These are the snazzy leather seats in one of the suites.  They say that people buy these and have to get a mortgage type loan because they are hundreds of thousands of dollars.  I guess if you have to ask how much it costs, you probably can't afford it.

The Jumbo-Tron has elevators on either side that come down onto the field to bring in repair workers to fix the bulbs it it is broken.  They said there are 6 stories of cat walks within the screen and it is 7 stories high.

They are rolling out new turf

This was the cheerleaders routine from this weekend.  Notice the prayer requests.  I thought that was pretty cool.

Even the water drains were stars

This is in the guys locker room where they can plug iPads in and do interactive plays during half time.

Kevin giving his press conference

Dwayne giving his press conference too

Where Jerry Jones parks his car

The ramp coming from the locker room down onto the field

This elevator goes from Jerry Jones suite, down to his private viewing booth on the 50 yard line, to the locker room and out onto the ramp leading to the field.

kissing the star

Kevin was kissing the star too.

smooch!!!

Everyone wants a little sugar under the stars, well Dwayne wanted some sugar on the Cowboys star!!!  Those boys!!!

This is the ramp that the visiting team comes down onto the field, they tour guide said that they eventually had to put up a plexi-glass barrier to keep the fans from spitting on the opposing players and keep the opposing players away from the fans.

The Cowboys definitely brought out the silliness in Dwayne.  He was like a kid in the candy store.

Kevin is a mess.

The triplets.  Dwayne said he hopes that Dez, Zack and Zek would be the next generation triplets.

Everyone needs a selfie on the 50 yard line.

Super bowl trophies

We had bunches of fun!  I am glad to have gotten to share it with Dwayne.  He LOVED every second of it.
